Gary L. Huffer & Company, Inc.

Celebrating 20 years in the Multi-value industry, Gary L. Huffer and Company, Inc., provides custom application solutions created by using its own proprietary development environment - Symbion. Utilizing the AccuTerm 2K2 API to provide both character and GUI interface solutions, Symbion is available on D3, Jbase, Unidata and Universe based platforms. Symbion based applications are very scalable, are optimized for performance and offer these significant advantages:

  • Full support of the 3-dimensional data model. No restrictions on the ability to address Multi-value and Sub-Multi-value data architectures, encompassing BOTH maintenance and the reporting aspects of these models.

  • Advanced report generation tools. Takes off where Access (English) left off. Includes multiple output destinations (Terminals, Printers, HTML, Hashed files, Flat files, etc.).

  • Integration of User/Process security including the ability to encrypt data at the attribute or file level with public and private keycode algorithms.

  • Multi-file relationships handled naturally within the environment. A single form can be used to present and/or update one of more files.

  • Support multiple pages (tabs) within a single form with a ‘plug & play’ approach (pages can be included within a single form or may be invoked separately).

  • Single environment kernel. ALL users and ALL forms run under one re-entrant, shared processing kernel. UNLIMITED, fully integrated form nesting (or tasking) is intrinsic to the Symbion environment, requiring only A SINGLE LOGIN and is accomplished WITHOUT LEVEL PUSHING. The processing shell allows for a high-level of application development consistency and minimizes the amount of custom code required. Custom code usually involves only the specific business rules required for the application. All the standard and mundane requirements are incorporated into the processing shell automatically (presentation, input/output, generalized validation and data relationships, etc.) When custom code is required, there is no restriction on where it can be invoked.

  • Tools have been incorporated to make the maintenance of the developed application as easy as possible. Maintenance becomes a ‘delight’ not a nightmare.

  • Supports BOTH character and GUI presentation layers. The presentation layer is completely separate from the business (rules) layer. The character and GUI presentations can be run separately, concurrently or together within the application, with the mode of operation customizable down to the user (operator) level. ALL development for BOTH the character and GUI presentations is done on the MV database side. Custom programming can be entirely coded within the DataBasic language (No Visual Basic coding required). Both character and GUI presentations are processed from the same business rules set.
