AccuTerm 2K2 Internet Edition supports
all of AccuTerm’s powerful emulation and custom features,
including AccuTerm’s private programming commands, automatic font
scaling, VBA scripting, and file transfer. However, the user
interface elements such as menus and toolbars are not present, since
the web browser provides the user interface.
AccuTerm 2K2 Internet Edition makes it
easy to deploy your legacy applications on the web. Simply:
- Connect your host system to the
Internet using a full-time connection such as DSL or Cable
Modem. A static IP address is also necessary.
- Install AccuTerm 2K2 Internet
Edition on one of your PC's. Create an AccuTerm session (.ats)
file and a link (.html) file using the the AccuTerm 2K2 Internet
Edition Designer.
- Upload the session and link files to
your web server.
- Add a hyperlink into one of your web
pages to the AccuTerm link file.
AccuTerm 2K2 Internet Edition
supports SSH connections to ensure privacy and prevent unauthorized
access to your host system. SSH is a terminal protocol similar to
Telnet, but the entire session is encrypted using triple DES
encryption. This encryption prevents "sniffing" of
sensitive information, including user ID's and passwords. To use SSH,
an SSH server must be installed on your host system, and the client
PC requires IE 4.01SP2 or IE 5.x with Microsoft's High Encryption
Pack.

- Sample Web Page

This sample web page uses AccuTerm
2K2 Internet Edition to access a Linux host. The host runs a
simple "Customer Maintenance" data entry screen. The
sample application is available in both character (green-screen)
and GUI modes. The sample application is written in Pick/BASIC
running on a Raining Data (Pick) D3 database.
In order to view this sample page,
the AccuTerm 2K2 Internet Edition Client program will be installed
on your workstation using the Internet Component Download feature
of Internet Explorer. Several steps are required to install the
client program: Visual Basic runtime files are installed first,
followed by a "helper" program. You must then enter
registration information and accept the software license
agreement. Finally, the AccuTerm 2K2 Internet Edition Setup Wizard
completes the installation. The entire process takes about 20-30
minutes with a typical dialup connection.
If you are using Internet
Explorer 3.x, you may need to click the browser
"Refresh" button after clicking the "Finish"
button in the Setup Wizard. You also need to click in the terminal
screen to activate it for keyboard input.

AccuTerm 2K2 Internet Edition SSH
runs in Internet Explorer 4.01 with SP2, and Internet Explorer
5.x. AccuTerm 2K2 SSH requires that you have the Internet Explorer
High Encryption Pack installed on your system. You can check if
your browser has the High Encryption Pack installed by selecting
"About Internet Explorer" from the browser Help menu. If
the Cipher Strength is less than 128 bits, you will need to
download this Pack. Instructions can be found here.
